Buat penggemar tHe Calling pastinya sudah enggak asing lagi dengan leader sekaligus penulis lagu band yang sempat populer di akhir tahun 2001 ini. Lagunya 'Wherever You Will Go' dan 'Adrienne' di album Camino Palmero langsung membuat band ini melejit.
Sayangnya popularitas tHe Calling langsung memudar. Meski begitu sebelum bubar di tahun 2005, band ini sempat mengeluarkan album kedua yaitu tWo (2004) tanpa personil lengkap alias hanya Alex Band and Aaron Kamin saja. Meski hanya berdua lagu 'Our Lives' terjual hingga 2 juta kopi.
Dari awal mendengarkan lagu-lagu tHe Calling suara sang vokalis, Alex Band kelahiran Califoria 8 Juni, 1981 terdengar unik dan khas. Mungkin ini yang membuat gue suka banget dengan lagu-lagu yang dinyanyiinnya termasuk lirik-lirik lagunya. Setelah tHe Calling bubar rupanya Alex tidak segera meninggalkan dunia musik, ia mulai bersolo karir dan menjadi artis independen.
Konon Alex kecil tumbuh dengan mendengarkan lagu-lagu yang diputar oleh ayahnya di rumah. Mungkin ini juga ya yang membuat dia jadi berbakat dan peka musik sehingga bisa menciptakan lagu-lagu yang simpel tapi menghanyutkan hehe... (mank banjir?). Nah, suaranya yang khas dan unik itu menjadi nilai plus tersendiri.
Waktu masih di tHe Calling, Alex sempat berduet dengan gitaris Mexico, Carlos Santana dalam solo 'Why Don't You and I' di tahun 2003. Jadi setelah bandnya bubar enggak sulit baginya untuk melanjutkan bersolo karir.
Yang pasti lagu-lagu 'Our Live', "Tonight', 'The Truth', dan 'Last Goodbye' merupakan salah satu favorit gue yang dinyanyiin ma Alex Band. So... wanna SiNg wiTh mE?
